Alcove bookcases either side of chimney

Bookcases floor to ceiling on either side of the chimney Rough dimensions: Depth 36" Width 34" MDF is ok if thickness is calculated with span and depth to prevent sagging. Would also be interested in a quote for using wood. No fixed idea on style - ie a 'box' fixed into the alcove is fine, as would be shelves on battens. Main concern is that they can cope with a high volume of books without sagging. Bottom two shelves to cope with LP's and record player. Symmetrical design.
