Auto electician

The back lights and dash lights stopped working on my car, The fuse was changed but then the fuse box started smoking and melted a couple of fuses, These were removed. The car was still running although the lights had stopped working again. The speedometer has now stopped working so I switched the engineoff to see if a restart would get it going again but now the car wont start at all. HELP.
