I own and live in a fairly typical Victorian London maisonette. I am looking to partially knock down an internal wall between my living room and hallway. I have had a builder around who is happy to take the job on, but he has requested that I get an engineer around to establish whether or not any additional steel beams etc. need to be inserted (and the positioning of these). I think the main thing is to establish whether any supporting is needed to keep the stairwell in place, as this is attached to the living room wall I would like to open up. I know that some of my neighbours have had very similar work done to their properties, so I am sure the work is doable.
It would be great to find out about quote/s for this job.
Many thanks!
