I live in a rented flat and one of the cushions on our sofa is pulling apart. It would be simplest in the long run, I think, to patch the whole base of the cushion (it has a leather top, front, and sides, but the underside is fairly flimsy fabric, which is hard to patch).
If possible, we'd like the underside of the fabric replaced and stitched to the leather top cover above, to avoid the landlords taking our whole deposit to replate the sofa down the road.
