fix wall leak

I have 2 jobs in the same house. 1 of them is fixing my external downstairs wall which has water coming in which i suspect is due to a shed that my husband fitted a year ago and where water stagnates. the water is now coming in and has made a big patch in the wall the second is that there is water coming in my upstairs bedroom wall on the other side of the house which is suspect may be due to pointing/roof problems on that corner of the house.
