I have recently bought a 1985 built semi-detached two storey house in Paisley. The house has suffered water damage when a pipe in the roof space froze then cracked and leaked water through the house. The house appears to have an indirect hot water system with a gas fired boiler under the stair connected to a hot water cylinder in the linen closet above the stair with a cold water storage tank and expansion/feeder tank in the loft.
The first job will be to locate and replace the faulty pipe. I then need a frank, honest and independent assessment of what needs to be replaced (the boiler?) and what can be kept. A radiator will also require to be moved. I'm looking to upgrade to a more efficient system although if a condensing combi-boiler was suggested as the best solution I'd prefer if it had some sort of hot water storage tank within the system to avoid the inevitable 2/3minute wait for hot water to come out the tap or the fact that someone can't have a shower and another person wash their hands in the kitchen without the water going cold!
I am an architect so have got trade discount in several stores so would probably buy any boiler/flues/tanks etc as required so the price I would pay would be for valued advice, fitting, testing of the system and commissioning/certification of the system. There would also be the possibility of yearly check-up/maintenance of the system and maybe even the chance to get more work through recommendations to clients of the small architectural practice I work for if a good job was done.
