general building/refurbuishment including dealing with damp and some roof repair

My whole house if rather cold and feels damp. I believe I have a damp problem in the basement but would need to have someone come to investigate. I've also been told that I need to find a way to stabalise the pillars that hold up my house. I have a leaking roof, which I would like to alter structurally. That involves knocking out a wall and building another one as well as altering the roof construction itself. I would appreciate help with the planning permission that is involved, but I have talked to the council and they seem to think there will be no issue. I'm looking to get started with the works sooner rather than later and for it all to take as little time as possible. If I like the work there will be a lot more that needs doing eventually. I guess the best way forward is to come and have a look in order to be able to quote accurately.
