This is my last try!I have had one plumber out already!!:( The problem started when the ballcock broke and fibre glass and a bees nest fell in to the cold water tank. This was fixed and looking at it, the water is settled and the top is now covered after a flushing the water. We also fixed a leaky tap at the same time. Since then, the hot water (all the water that is not from the mains) smells an earthy smell, with the occasional insect. I did suggest that the dirt had got in to the hot water tank as it was being fed by the damaged tank, but the plumber said no and would not check. The smell is much stronger when the water is hot, rather than cold water, but I till am not brushing my teeth in it!!
This has been since June, so I have lost hope that the water would 'flush through' and right itself. we have run bath everyday.
I have called the mains water too, and there is no problem there.
The problem is affecting our washing too, as the washing machine takes from the hot water feed, resulting in a noticeable smell.
I live in a rented property, but as they are refusing to do anything as the water 'looks' clear, which it does, I am on my own. However, should the problem be diagnosed, I will pay and ask them to reimburse me (and maybe an apology!)
