We have a 1950s flat concrete roof on the extension of our flat (first floor) which we are going to get insulated with Kingspan and roofing felt on the outside.
We would also like to get a quote for having insulated dry lining fixed on the ceiling inside. The ceilings are quite low as it is so we would like to keep the drop in height to a couple of inches or less.
We have been told that foil-backed plasterboard fixed to the ceiling with tannelised batons with some kind of insulation in between the batons could do the trick, but that there needs to be no gaps between the plasterboard and the ceiling and that the gaps around lights and at the edges and joins need to be very well sealed to prevent interstitial condensation.
We are looking for someone to:
- remove peeling wallpaper and pretty extensive existing mould on concrete ceiling in bathroom, and advise about how long we would need to leave this to dry out for before fitting dry lining (1.78m x 1.88m)
- advise about removing minimal mould spores on plastered bedroom ceiling (assuming wiping with bleach and leaving to dry out is fine) and again fit dry lining (2.53m x 2.91m)
- fit ceiling as described above in these two rooms, unless you would advise an alternative approach, plaster over and finish to a high standard, with at least two coats of white paint
- ensure lights are put back in place
- ensure new beige carpet in bedroom is fully protected and unharmed during the dry lining process
- remove any debris, vacuum etc after the work has been done
We would need this done as soon as possible after the outside of the roof has been insulated, which will probably take place in the next month or so.
I look forward to hearing from you.
