Apart from current tank being in poor condition(no lid/lagging) is no longer adequate for cold water needs on 1st floor below and the two 28mm galvanised outlets are rusted so that if one tap or shower running below, another will just trickle. Loft is big as pre-war older house(headroom and loft hatch aperture very easy access: 68cm*90cms). Have been quoted fair price by local plumber at weekend (under £300) to replace tank/sort out 28mm galvanised outlets but he is booked up for weeks and don't want to wait. Prefer experienced local plumber (Greater Bournemouth area who is of course welcome to come and take a look)
Obviously central heating system itself is open vented - works well and boiler recently replaced without problem. Need for new tank was identified by Dynarod when called out under B.Gas AS400 agreement as cold water supply on 1st floor was getting so weak - they improved things by wet vacuuming out pipes to water heater tank on half landing but explained condition of loft tank, outlets etc. is cause of rusts, airlocks etc. and should be replaced.
