Needed ASAP:
I currently have a basement window with a fixed half-grille covering the part that is just above floor level. I would like a second grille fitted, flush with the floor and welded to the existing grille to make an L shape (from a side view) to fully protect the window & well.
The grille also needs to lock to prevent anyone accessing the back yard just lifting it up. I would imagine the best way to enable this to happen in line with fire regs is to fit a thumbturn lock inside a cylinder underneath the grille (so the bolts fit into the side walls of the well infront of the window, below floor level) meaning anyone above cannot open the grille, but anyone coming out of the basement room can turn the lock and lift the grille to climb out with ease.
